Time Away in St. Simons Island
After finishing up Midway Baseball’s spring season, my family and I took some time away from home to visit St. Simons Island, Georgia. We had a small beach house for the week with extended family.
While I’ve been working with a camera for more than half of my life, the primary development of my photography came with the birth of my son, Aidan almost six years ago. Digital was still pretty new, and I dove in deep and started photographing him frequently. Fast forward to today, and the percentage of photos I take of my own two sons is a tiny fraction of what I take of other people’s children. (It’s the classic story of the shoemaker’s children going barefoot.)
I’ve always photographed our trips (going back to before we had children) and usually focused more on what we visited versus the people. After arriving at the house this year, and starting on this year’s vacation – it seemed just right to focus on the people and not the places.

I started down the road of photographing my then new family in 2003 and wanted to do more than occasional snapshots. I really wanted to chronicle our new son’s life, and our life together. The camera came along almost everywhere.
A Tale of Two Athletes – Part II
On the other end of the field, Senior Chris Thomas has been an impact player for his full career in a Spartans uniform. He will be playing at Elon next year as a result.
